Application of 3D printing in dentistry

Technological progress has not bypassed dentistry. It made it possible to transfer a significant part of clinical data to the digital environment. An example is digital X-ray diagnostics, which eliminates the use of film and reduces the dose of radiation used by 90%, which makes the examination safer and opens up a wider range of applications.

3D printing is a modern technology that allows you to create three-dimensional objects from various materials, such as plastics, metal, ceramics or bioprinting . In dentistry, 3D printing is becoming more and more popular, and its application is very wide. It allows you to create precise and durable prosthetic elements, implants, anatomical models and surgical tools.

Currently, our clinical management is largely based on the use of intraoral 3D scans, cone-beam digital tomography, 3D printing and extensive photographic documentation. This approach allows us to improve the healing process, and in some cases, significantly increases the precision of the treatments performed.

Having your own 3D printing laboratory in dentistry brings many benefits that affect the effectiveness of treatment and patient satisfaction.

Benefits of your own 3D printing studio:

Shorter time to prosthetic temporary works – 3D printers enable the creation of precise and durable temporary prostheses in a short time, thanks to which patients can receive them already during the visit. We avoid long waiting times for external delivery of prostheses and reduce treatment time.

Greater precision of surgical procedures – 3D printers allow you to create accurate anatomical models of the oral cavity, which we use to plan and simulate surgical procedures. This allows you to minimize the risk of errors and improve the quality of the procedures performed.

Greater precision of implant placement – through the 3D printing lab, we are able to prepare a precise tooth model and we can precisely plan the placement of the implant before it is placed. In this way, we minimize the risk of errors and improve the durability of the implant.

Quick and convenient “measuring” of work – 3D printers provide quick and precise scans of the patient’s oral cavity, which enables accurate and convenient “measuring” of dental work. We quickly adapt dentures, crowns and bridges to the individual needs of the patient.

3D printing allows you to obtain high-quality products, fully tailored to the individual needs of the patient, which translates into greater effectiveness and satisfaction with treatment. The technology is widely used in dental prosthetics, aesthetic dentistry and implantology.

Thanks to this technology, we create a project that is diverse in terms of, for example, color, shape or size. Designs can be easily edited, matched and sent to a 3D printer, and as a result, the patient receives from us a precise and durable product that perfectly adapts to his or her teeth. In this way, we are able to plan treatment based on a model that we use, for example, to produce overlays, bridges or prosthetic crowns.
